For the first time, Niger and its capital, Niamey, were on the conference organizers' list of preferred international destinations, giving the country even greater visibility on the international stage. After articles and other reports in the local media devoted to the feat, it was now up to the international media to seize upon it and amplify the qualitative leap achieved in such a short time, placing Niamey in seventh place in Africa.
